One item that I’ve found to be indispensable is the “Bike Buddy” attachment system manufactured in the UK. This stainless steel bracket allows a camping stove fuel bottle to be attached to a standard water-bottle cage boss on your down tube or seat tube. It also works with large capacity thermos bottles and 1.5 liter water bottles. The system allows the bottle to be lifted off of the bike with the integral cage so a smaller area is needed for mounting and dismounting than a standard bottle cage. I secure mine to the bike with a soft shackle in case it rattles off on a bumpy downhill trail. If you use an MSR cookstove like the Dragonfly or Whisperlite, you need a Bike Buddy to keep your fuel outside of the panniers.
